For our [preaching of the] glad tidings (the Gospel) came to you not only in word, but also in [its own inherent] power and in the Holy Spirit and with great conviction and absolute certainty [on our part]. You know what kind of men we proved [ourselves] to be among you for your good.
You will not find the word supernatural in the Bible). It is a secular term that attempts to define things outside the realm of what happens naturally. Perhaps the word should be outside the natural??? But nonetheless we have understood that the use of this word supernatural, means things that occur in the spirit world or things that originate from the spirit realm be they evil or good. The Gospel of Jesus Christ carries with it power from the Spirit realm power from GOD Himself. The Bible states that is is indeed the power of GOD. It is the power that brings forth the salvation experience.
Rom 1:16
For I am not ashamed of the Gospel (good news) of Christ, for it is God's power working unto salvation [for deliverance from eternal death] to everyone who believes with a personal trust and a confident surrender and firm reliance, to the Jew first and also to the Greek,
If we confess with our months and believe in our hearts that GOD has raised Jesus from the dead, then the saving power( or the supernatural power) of GOD is released to save through the Holy Spirit.
Titus 3:5
He saved us, not because of any works of righteousness that we had done, but because of His own pity and mercy, by [the] cleansing [bath] of the new birth (regeneration) and renewing of the Holy Spirit,
No other power exist in the world, pass, present or future that can save us from eternal death other than the name of Jesus. If we do not accept Jesus as our sole single way back to GOD then we are doomed to eternal death.
Acts 4:12
And there is salvation in and through no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given among men by and in which we must be saved.
He has sent His only begotten SON, He will not send anyone else. It is finished, end of story. You have missed the train out of this condemned world.
John 3:18
........................ but he who does not believe (cleave to, rely on, trust in Him) is judged already [he has already been convicted and has already received his sentence] because he has not believed in and trusted in the name of the only begotten Son of God. [He is condemned for refusing to let his trust rest in Christ's name.]
When Jesus ascended from this planet there was great sadness among the disciples..
John 16:6
But because I have said these things to you, sorrow has filled your hearts [taken complete possession of them].
BUT-He promised that He would not leave us alone. He promised another supernatural companion in the person of the Holy Spirit.
John 16:7
However, I am telling you nothing but the truth when I say it is profitable (good, expedient, advantageous) for you that I go away. Because if I do not go away, the Comforter (Counselor, Helper, Advocate, Intercessor, Strengthener, Standby) will not come to you [into close fellowship with you]; but if I go away, I will send Him to you [to be in close fellowship with you].
Another supernatural event will be present.. The same power that raised our LORD will be placed in us...
Now we have Jesus living inside of us watching over us , caring for us teaching us, standing up for us.. AND, there is MORE...A supernatural gift comes with supernatural expression..
Acts 1:8 But you shall receive power (ability, efficiency, and might) when the Holy Spirit has come upon you, and you shall be My witnesses in Jerusalem and all Judea and Samaria and to the ends (the very bounds) of the earth.
Supernatural ability, Supernatural efficency, and supernatural might.. is available and resident ,living in YOU.. This is standard equiment for GOD's people.
And as promised the Day of Pentecost arrived..
Acts 2:1
When the day of Pentecost had come, they were all together in one place.
Acts 2:2
And suddenly there came from heaven a noise like a violent rushing wind, and it filled the whole house where they were sitting.
Acts 2:3
And there appeared to them tongues as of fire distributing themselves, and they rested on each one of them.
Acts 2:4
And they were all filled with the Holy Spirit and began to speak with other tongues, as the Spirit was giving them utterance.
GOD gave us of HIS precious Spirit because We are now HIS and therefore We our benefactors of the grace of GOD to help us live day by day AND to accomplish HIS mission in the earth. It is not for our own self promotion or glorification.. NOT AT ALL. TO GOD BE THE GLORY. The power must always be known to have come from GOD and not from ourselves.
2 Cor 4:7
However, we possess this precious treasure [the divine Light of the Gospel] in [frail, human] vessels of earth, that the grandeur and exceeding greatness of the power may be shown to be from God and not from ourselves.
Frail human vessels of earth put under pressure through certain trails and many tribulations, that have been predestined by GOD and made to be our cup of suffering, in order for the life of Jesus to be released.
2 Cor 4:8
we are afflicted in every way, but not crushed; perplexed, but not despairing;
2 Cor 4:9
persecuted, but not forsaken; struck down, but not destroyed;
2 Cor 4:10
always carrying about in the body the dying of Jesus, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our body.
2 Cor 4:11
For we who live are constantly being delivered over to death for Jesus' sake, so that the life of Jesus also may be manifested in our mortal flesh
..In fact the more humble we are the more GOD can release HIS supernatural power through us.. The more we are weak the stronger GOD's presence is manifested in our lives..
2 Cor 12:9
But He said to me, My grace (My favor and loving-kindness and mercy) is enough for you [sufficient against any danger and enables you to bear the trouble manfully]; for My strength and power are made perfect (fulfilled and completed) and show themselves most effective in [your] weakness. Therefore, I will all the more gladly glory in my weaknesses and infirmities, that the strength and power of Christ (the Messiah) may rest (yes, may pitch a tent over and dwell) upon me!
The Lords presence in our lives validates us as being HIS... We are now HIS children and children bring with them the characteristics of their parents.. If we do not have the Holy Spirit then GOD declares we are not HIS children..
Rom 8:9
But you are not living the life of the flesh, you are living the life of the Spirit, if the [Holy] Spirit of God [really] dwells within you [directs and controls you]. But if anyone does not possess the [Holy] Spirit of Christ, he is none of His [he does not belong to Christ, is not truly a child of God
And since YOU are His child we will see the supernatual power of GOD being made plain through events in our living .. If we are living for Jesus..
Mark 16:17
And these attesting signs will accompany those who believe: in My name they will drive out demons; they will speak in new languages;
Mark 16:18
They will pick up serpents; and [even] if they drink anything deadly, it will not hurt them; they will lay their hands on the sick, and they will get well.
