In our journey in this temporal life as Christians we come to a bridge of decision. And this bridge once crossed lands us into the rest of GOD.
Heb 4:9
So there remains a Sabbath rest for the people of God
What decision do we have to make in order to enter into the Sabbath rest?
Heb 4:3
For we who have believed enter that rest, just as He has said, "AS I SWORE IN MY WRATH, THEY SHALL NOT ENTER MY REST," although His works were finished from the foundation of the world
Our bridge of decision is the choice we make to trust GOD. It is wholly summed up in believing that GOD will deliver on His promises. It means that we trust HIM with our life and cling to Him with our whole heart.
2 Thess 1:11
With this in view we constantly pray for you, that our God may deem and count you worthy of [your] calling and [His] every gracious purpose of goodness, and with power may complete in [your] every particular work of faith (faith which is that leaning of the whole human personality on God in absolute trust and confidence in His power, wisdom, and goodness).
In the preceding verse we find what is the essential behavior required by GOD that brings into a realization of Faith.
This Faith is the leaning of the whole human personality on GOD.
Heb 4:10
For he who has once entered [God's] rest also has ceased from [the weariness and pain] of human labors, just as God rested from those labors peculiarly His own.
It means no more striving to please GOD since salvation is a gift. It means there is no secret formula to find the rest that GOD provides . We simply are required to believe in GOD with absolute confidence in His power, wisdom and goodness.
Heb 4:2
For indeed we have had good news preached to us, just as they also; but the word they heard did not profit them, because it was not united by faith in those who heard.
When we hear the message of salvation it does not mean just or only that we have an admission ticket into heaven. The message of salvation also means victory here in this life over all the difficulties that will undoubtedly occur. It means no matter the situation you remain in the rest that only our Lord provides.
