I spend probably too much time in the mornings deciding what to wear. I like to dress in accordance with my mood for the day. Most of us rumble indecisively through our closets facing the daily dilemma of what should we wear.
I remember having a dream one time that left me very uneasy. In the dream I was partially clothed down to my underwear and I was outside were I could be seen. I stayed hidden from every ones view hoping no one would see me. Finally I found some clothes but they were very dirty but they were better than nothing so I put them on. I came into view and walked surprising proudly with my unclean apparel.
I asked the Lord Jesus what was the meaning of this dream? And this is what I found out.
Nakeness represents shame and sin;
Lam 1:8
Jerusalem has grievously sinned; therefore she has become an unclean thing and has been removed. All who honored her despise her, because they have seen her nakedness; yes, she herself groans and sighs and turns [her face] away.
The dirty garments represented;
Is 64:6
For all of us have become like one who is unclean, And all our righteous deeds are like a filthy garment;
Not the kind of dream a Christian wants to have especailly someone like myslef who considers himself so spiritual.
Clearly this was a wake up call.
So today I am not so much concerned about what clothes to cover my body . I am much more aware of what needs to cover my soul.
Rev 3:18
I advise you to buy from Me gold refined by fire so that you may become rich, and white garments so that you may clothe yourself, and that the shame of your nakedness will not be revealed; and eye salve to anoint your eyes so that you may see.
And what exactly is this Clothing? My friends it is wholly and completed summed up inthis fashion... You want to be a fashionable Christian????
Rev 19:8
It was given to her to clothe herself in fine linen, bright and clean; for the fine linen is the righteous acts of the saints.
Just as when we were sinners our sinful behavior represented nakeness Now that we are Born Again and living for Jesus our Behavior now represents acts of rigteousness. Your faith is evident and a witness by what you DO.
James 2:17
Even so faith, if it has no works, is dead, being by itself.
