Talking about being unappreciated , WOW! But I can understand their reaction, Jesus grew up just like everyone else. There was nothing special about Jesus that they could see, and now here He is preaching everywhere, making a fool of himself, is what many were thinking. His family was like, we better go get that boy. As you see from scripture they thought He was crazy.
Jesus grew up poor with no special privileges and was uneducated
. John 7:14 But when it was now the midst of the feast Jesus went up into the temple, and began to teach.
John 7:15 The Jews then were astonished, saying, "How has this man become learned, having never been educated?"
Educated people will often only listen to other educated people, so hearing the Gospel from an uneducated man like Jesus made no sense to them, and therefore they were shocked (Astonished) at the wisdom and knowledge of the LORD.
Rom 11:9 And David says,
"LET THEIR TABLE BECOME A SNARE AND A TRAP,
AND A STUMBLING BLOCK AND A RETRIBUTION TO THEM.
In the context of the above scripture, the table refers to our beliefs, the things we have determined to be of value to our personal development. The very thing that we have chosen to chart our course in life can be the same thing that causes us to miss GOD. In this case most men could not get over the fact that Jesus was uneducated.
1 Cor 1:19 For it is written,
"I WILL DESTROY THE WISDOM OF THE WISE,
AND THE CLEVERNESS OF THE CLEVER I WILL SET ASIDE."
The family of Jesus had a different problem all together, they were far too familiar with Jesus and could not imagine Jesus to be whom He proclaimed to be the Son of the Living GOD.
Luke 3:22 and the Holy Spirit descended upon Him in bodily form like a dove, and a voice came out of heaven, "You are My beloved Son, in You I am well-pleased."

Mark 6:4 Jesus said to them, "A prophet is not without honor except in his hometown and among his own relatives and in his own household."
This is the attitude towards Jesus , You are no better than us, who do you think you are! There are other factors as well that contributed to the rejection of Jesus not only by friends and family, but by the nation of Israel.
Many looked at Jesus and said, there is absolutely NO WAY, this man is from GOD. But what they did not know was that their rejection of Jesus was a set up. If Israel had not rejected Jesus then He would not have been crucified and today we would not have eternal life through Christ Jesus. The crucifixion indeed comes forth out of the wisdom of GOD, turning the world's concept of death and defeat to everlasting life and victory.
1 Cor 2:7 But rather what we are setting forth is a wisdom of God once hidden [from the human understanding] and now revealed to us by God--[that wisdom] which God devised and decreed before the ages for our glorification [to lift us into the glory of His presence].
1 Cor 2:8 None of the rulers of this age or world perceived and recognized and understood this, for if they had, they would never have crucified the Lord of glory
Not everyone thought Jesus has a wacko and a fake, those who believed in HIM are those He chose. Largely the people God choses are also the same people remarkably the world rejects.
1 Cor 1:26 For [simply] consider your own call, brethren; not many [of you were considered to be] wise according to human estimates and standards, not many influential and powerful, not many of high and noble birth.
Notice the scripture says NOT MANY, so there are some, but for the most part the choices of GOD are as follows;
1 Cor 1:27 [No] for God selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is foolish to put the wise to shame, and what the world calls weak to put the strong to shame.
1 Cor 1:28 And God also selected (deliberately chose) what in the world is lowborn and insignificant and branded and treated with contempt, even the things that are nothing, that He might depose and bring to nothing the things that are
Are you poor, uneducated, unattractive, someone when people walk by you they do not even know you exist? You are GODS kind of people. God is not looking for people with the big head, the rich and affluent most often they have far too much pride to get GOD's attention. GOD chooses the insignificant because He will have no man boost before HIM. So if you are confused and asking yourself why does GOD do this , here is the answer
1 Cor 1:29 So that no mortal man should [have pretense for glorying and] boast in the presence of God.
Jesus came to earth in a form that was unattractive to the prideful. Be careful who you look down on with a sense of superiority because you very well could be rejecting Jesus.
Matt 25:40 And the King will reply to them, Truly I tell you, in so far as you did it for one of the least [in the estimation of men] of these My brethren, you did it for Me.
And to those who are thought to be forgotten Rejoice..
James 2:5
Listen, my beloved brethren: Has not God chosen those who are poor in the eyes of the world to be rich in faith and in their position as believers and to inherit the kingdom which He has promised to those who love Him
Sincerely Yours
